The Country Maid and Her Milk-Pail

A Country Maid was walking along with a pail of Milk upon her head, when she fell into the following train of reflections.
시골 처녀가 우유통을 머리에 이고 걸어가면서 머리 속으로 이것저것 생각하기 시작했어요..
"The money for which I Shall sell this milk will enable me to increase my stock of eggs to three hundred.
이 우유를 판 돈으로 가지고 있는 계란을 3백 개로 늘릴 수 있을 거야..
These eggs, allowing for what may prove addle, and what may be destroyed by vermin, will produce at least two hundred and fifty chickens.
썩는 것과 해충한테 당하는 것 등을 빼더라도 이만한 계란으로부터 적어도 250마리의 병아리가 부화될 거야..
The chickens will be fit to carry to market just at the time when poultry is always dear;
이 병아리는 값이 비쌀 무렵에 시장으로 들고 가기에 안성맞춤이 돼 있을 거야..
so that by the new-year I cannot fail of having money enough to purchase a new gown. Green
그러니까 해가 바뀔 때까지 새로운 옷을 살 돈이 틀림없이 마련돼 있을 것이 분명하지.
Let me consider - 생각 좀 보자..
yes, green becomes my complexion best, and green it shall be.
맞았어, 녹색이 내 얼굴 빛과 가장 잘 어울릴 거야.
In this dress I will go to the fair, where all the young fellows will strive to have me for a partner;
그러면 거기서 젊은이들이 모두, 어떻게든 나와 함께 춤을 추고 싶어 할 것이다.
"but no - O shall refuse every one of them, and with a disdainful toss turn from them."
"하지만 안 되지 - 나는 누구나 다 거절하고, 깔보듯이 얼굴을 바짝 치켜올려 젊은이들로부터 도망칠거야."
Transported with this idea, she could not forbear acting with her head the thought that thus passed in her mind;
생각에 빠져 정신을 읽고 , 이런 식으로 마음에 떠오르는 생각을 그대로 목으로 해 쭉 치켜올렸어요.
when - down came the pail of ilk! and all her imaginary happiness vanished in a moment.
그러나 그 순간 - 우유통이 털썩 떨어졌습니다. 그리하여 처녀의 공상적 행복은 일순간에 사라져 버리고 말았답니다.
