[하늘 집]

너희도 길이 참고 마음을 굳게 하라 주의 강림이 가까우니라 -야고보서 5:8 찬송가 "감사하는 성도여"는 교회에서 추수감사절 예배를 드릴 때 자주 부르는 곡입니다. 1844년에 헨리 알포드가 쓴 이 곡은추운 겨울이 오기 전 무사히 거두어들인 곡식에 대하여 하나님께 감사를 드리는 것으로 시작합니다. 그러나 땅의 풍요로움에 대해 감사를 드리는 노래만이 아닙니다. 이 찬송가는 예수님이 재림하실 때 하나님이 그의 백성들을 "추수하심"에 초점을 맞추며 끝이 납니다. 주여 어서 오셔서 우리 거둬 줍소서 죄와 슬픔 중에서 우리 건져 줍소서 모든 성도 영원히 하늘 집에 이르러 천군 천사 어울려 추수 찬송 부르리. 물질적인 필요가 채워져 감사드릴 때, 우리의 미래는 불확실하고 우리의 생명은 잠깐 보이다가 없어지는 안개와 같음을 반드시 기억해야 합니다 (약 4:14). 야고보는 우리에게 곡식이 자라서 잘 익기를 기다리는 농부처럼 되라고 권면했습니다. "너희도 길이 참고 마음을 굳게 하라 주의 강림이 가까우니라" (5:8). 우리의 필요에 따라 성실하게 공급하시는 하나님께 감사드리면서, 예수 그리스도께서 약속하신 재림에 대해서도 생각해봅시다. 인내하며 소망 가운데 주님을 위해 살면서 주님께서 그의 영광스런 하늘 집으로 우리를 부르기 위해 다시 오실 그 날을 기다립시다.

You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. -James 5:8 The hymn "Come, Ye Thankful People, Come" is often sung at Christian services of thanksgiving. Written in 1844 by Henry Alford, it begins with thanks to God for crops safely gathered in before winter. But it is more than gratefulness for the bounty of the land. The hymn ends by focusing on God's "harvest" of His people when Christ returns: Even so, Lord, quickly come To Thy final harvest-home: Gather Thou Thy people in, Free from sorrow, free from sin; There, forever purified, In Thy presence to abide: Come, with all Thine angels, come- Raise the glorious harvest-home. As we give thanks for material needs supplied, it's essential to remember that our plans are uncertain and our lives are a vapor that quickly disappear (James 4:14). James encourages us to be like a farmer waiting for his crops to grow and mature. "You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand" (5:8). As we thank God for His faithful provision for our needs, let's turn our thoughts to the promised return of Jesus Christ.
